There's not a lot of attempt to understand the neglect and abuse in the early stories. Not that that somehow makes the treatment okay, but I suppose I could have been more demonstrative. @Matt

I sure hope that me and other teachers I know would handle such a terrifying situation with more poise and self-control than that. Your sister was a frighteningly good opportunistic manipulator: no wonder you hate her. Anyway, just my two cents. I stumbled onto this site by random chance. Keep up the writing.
