Here’s what is currently going on with the site:
1. I have installed a new theme that I am planning on keeping for the next great while. For the textophiles: don’t worry, I’m going to find a way to make the text darker so it has higher contrast.
2. All the stories are back where they should be, as well as most of the images. I have not put all the images back yet, as that would be a pain in my ass (I have to do them one at a time not to mention track down where I found them in the first place) so I’m going to break up that labor over the next few weeks or so when I can find time.
3. I’m figuring out what widgets need to be put back in place. I definitely want to put the twitter widget back up, for if I do not, only a handful of people will be subjected to the banality of my random thoughts.
4. I’m planning on updating more often. So that’s going to be fun. Also, there will be more fiction, which may or may not be fun.
5. Now for the hat in hand part. Here’s where I’m going to ask you all to do me a solid.
I need a new banner.
I was going to make a new crappy one for myself, but then I slapped myself in the forehead in the tradition of 90′s style sitcoms and shouted “Oh wait, I have an audience!” Then my inexplicably attractive wife put her hands on her hips, stared at me, sighed, and threw a dish towel over her shoulder before walking away in a huff. I spent the rest of the night talking to my neighbor whose face is always hidden by the fence that divides our yards.
Anyhow, a surprisingly large number of you are very talented individuals. If you are an artist and would like to make me a banner I would very much like to have it and use it. If I get multiples, I’ll just figure out a way for the banner to change randomly when you upload, or I’ll just cycle them every few weeks. I have only a few guidelines.
A. If I am featured in it, I must not look too awesome. A small amount of awesome is okay if it is either ironic or sarcastic awesomeness.
B. It must be relevant to the site somehow. That means it should incorporate themes of nerdery and humor. If it references a number of stories, even better.
C. It must be sized in such a way I could realisitically put it up as a banner. So no small icons or large sweeping landscapes that would take up half the page.
D. If you do make one that I can use, you will get to tell me what kind of story (as in “Hey! Write a story about your evil sister!”) you want me to write, and I will write it as my next update. It will also be dedicated to you and I will drop any links you so wish me to drop. E-mail me at brandoncwoods@gmail.com if you have a banner you would like to submit.
In the eventuality no one actually wants to do this, I will spend an inordinate amount of time making one for myself, and pretend it was made by someone else. Someone named Mitch Ruskin.
And 6.thly: What do you think about what I’ve done so far? Anything you want to see? Anything bugging you? Content-wise? Site-wise? Let me know. As you may have figured out, I’m pretty open to both suggestion and criticism. Anyhow, never be afraid to leave a comment!
