My mother and father wanted to teach me one thing above all others, when I was a child: being alive is horrible.
There is no hope, happiness is fleeting, and we’re all going to die. Furthermore, there are no nice people in the world, everyone is in it for themselves, and you’ll get fucked over until the day you die. Lastly, even if you do by some small chance manage to feel good for one second, you should be ashamed of it because there are other people in the world who are suffering.
I don’t know why they wanted me to know this so much except that I’m the the only child they have that’s never attempted suicide, and they were probably going for a perfect record.
